This weekend was one our busiest in quite a while! It was nice to get together with people that we usually only see at work. Our weekend started with an awesome BBQ with friends. They were so accommodating of my vegetarian diet, and the food was delicious! We sat outside, soaked up the nice weather, and learned so many new things about them and their adventures in Africa! I can't wait to do it again soon!
We also had our first day by the pool, and I learned the hard way that I need to apply more sunscreen. I'm paying for it now, but the relaxation was much needed. Derek watched the Nebraska game, and I just enjoyed lounging.
We were able to go with a few friends to the site of the Bahá'í temple. It is still under construction, so we weren't able to take photos of the actual temple itself. However, we captured a few photos of the grounds. It was really interesting to take a glimpse into a religion that I really had never been exposed to before. The temples all have nine entrances and a dome, other than that, the architects have complete freedom over the design. For this temple alone, there were over 800 submissions! The design that was selected is absolutely an amazing feat of architecture. Some of the elements have never been attempted before, so I cannot wait to see the finished product. I included a few photos from the official website and other temples from around the world. This is the last of the continental temples, so it is sure to bring a huge crowd in 2016 when it will be finished!
How was your weekend?
