I am really excited that it is finally Friday. While I love my job, there are always the weeks that totally exhaust me, and this was one of those weeks. Being gone for four days and leaving my kids with a substitute teacher is, while appreciated, really hard for keeping routines and the normal expectations. So, this week was basically like a retraining week on our classroom expectations and behaviors. However, now that it finally the end of the week, the kids are finally back on track. haha
Anyway, I am really feeling excited and inspired about things coming up in this space and also in our lives!! Here are a few things that I found interesting while poking around this week.
I am a huge fan of Jess Lively and her podcast. This week was a really fun one and made me think so much of my mom. She kept elaborate and beautiful scrapbooks of everything that our family did. She did this for both my sister and for me, and they are so special to look back on the moments that could otherwise be forgotten. In the podcast, Jess Lively talks with Ali Edwards about relationships, life's changes and challenges, and, of course, scrapbooking! Check it out if you have a chance.
This week Derek and I were talking about an Ask Reddit question (What useless information do you remember from high school?), and he said he still remembered his first locker combination. It was so weird, because on that same day sfgirlbybay posted some really cool ways to give lockers a new life! I would love to have some of these pieces in the home! How about you?
I don't know about you, but I love decorating for the holidays. This year is going to be a little different for us, because we are used to snow white Decembers. That is not going to happen here in Santiago. We are approaching summer, and we are enjoying afternoons by the pool and planning some more outdoor activities. Because of this, I want to have slightly more colorful holiday decorations. I am loving these ideas (here, here, and here), and I'll be sharing some DIYs coming up!
This candied apple recipe from Oh Joy! looks so yummy (and easy!). It looks great for kids and adults alike! You could set it up as a station, too, if you are hosting a party. I'm thinking of adding them to our Thanksgiving dessert table!
Have an amazing weekend!!
